Red hot – hot dogs! Red Trolley apparently added a hot dog bar to their menu! All natural and nitrate free. I love my neighborhood. So conscious and healthy even when it comes to their hot dog choices.

Well according to forbes at least.
“Denver is America’s best city to buy a home, Forbes magazine says in a new ranking of U.S. metro areas.

““Denver scores very well in terms of being able to bring people into a stable housing market,” the magazine quoted Moody’s economist Christopher Cornell as saying. “It has better growth potential than most cities today.”

How exciting Denver! http://denver.bizjournals.com/denver/stories/2009/06/22/daily46.html

So come on buyers lets get to work! Buy a home in the number one city!

District 1’s new zoning code discussion is tonight! http://www.newcodedenver.org/
6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Scheitler Recreation Center
5031 W. 46th Avenue Denver

Did you read  Bill Husted’s little blurb about Highland this weekend?

“The current Men’s Journal ranks East Highland as one the The Best Neighborhoods in America. They even nickname it E-Hi, which is a new one for me. But they do capture Highland’s hip scene at Vita, Lola, Little Man Ice Cream and Root Down”.  http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_12537486

Who are these people that have nicknamed highland E-Hi?  There is a lot of opposition to the name LoHi which I actually am cool with but E-hi?  Seriously?  I am not okay with that one all.

For one we aren’t even “East Highland” we are Highland.  Its not our fault that originally West Highlands was west of Highland and wanted to use our name.  You dont hear anyone calling east of downtown over there on little rave E-do.  Of course not because it sounds lame!

For those that aren’t aware the Highland Neighborhood runs from I-25 West to Federal and from Speer to 38th if you ask the RNO.  If you ask the city the east boundary goes to Platte Street.

Ultimately I dont care.  I know where I live and I know who I am!  But I imagine the uproar is going to be great.

Peace out from E-hi,

Emily Chaney

Poll workers needed for the election!
Help Denver Vote! Be a Poll Worker on Nov. 4th!

With the General Election on November 4 just weeks away, the Denver Elections Division is recruiting more than 2,500 poll workers to help Denver residents cast their ballots.

Be a part of this historic election by working from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at a neighborhood polling location on Election Day. The pay ranges from $120 to $210, including a training session. Lunch is provided and you can receive satisfaction from knowing you are helping your fellow citizens exercise one of their fundamental democratic rights.

High school students ages 16 to 18 years old can participate through the Student Poll Worker Program. They earn the same compensation as regular poll workers, but must receive permission from their parent or guardian and a school official to miss school.

Companies, community groups and non-profits can earn money for their organization or charity of choice by participating in this year’s “Non-Profit Challenge” by having poll workers donate their stipend. Details are at www.DenverVotes.org.

If you’re a night owl, work the overnight shift on Election Day and be the first one to see the results! Those available for temporary work prior to the election can earn $11.12 an hour.
To qualify as a poll worker, you must:

  • be a registered voter residing in the City and County of Denver
  • never have been convicted of election fraud
  • not be a candidate on the ballot in the precinct where you are appointed to serve, nor a family member
